malletjazz.com News - April 11, 2003

Greetings, everyone -

Just a few quick items to mention:

  • James Walker has signed on with Wernick Instruments, LTD., as an artist endorser of the Xylosynth MIDI mallet controller. Our thanks to Will Wernick for inviting Jim to join his roster of artists, a roster which includes such noted mallet players as Anthony Kerr and David Friedman. For more information about the Xylosynth, visit http://www.malletjazz.com/xylosynth.html.

  • James recently performed at the Connecticut Percussive Arts Society Chapter's "Day Of Percussion," joining steel pan virtuoso Liam Teague for performances during Liam's steel pan clinic. The Chapter Day also featured clinics by drum set artists Dom Famularo, Mike Portnoy, and Johnny Rabb, along with percussionist Dr. Nick Petrella. For more information about the Connecticut PAS Chapter, please visit http://www.pas.org/chapters/connecticut.

  • James continues to perform throughout Southern New England, both as leader of the James Walker Group, and with keyboardist and guitarist Lance James. See the "gigs" page here on malletjazz.com for upcoming performance dates.

  • Those of you who are drummers and/or percussionists are invited to visit the message boards at http://www.tigerbill.com. Hosted by "Tiger" Bill Meligari, the site includes a mallet percussion forum hosted by James.

  • A limited number of "Rhyme Or Reason" CDs are still available for sale - get your order in while you can!

Thanks for your interest and support. Please feel free to stop by again in the future, and sign our guest book if you'd like!

Best wishes,

James Walker
(on behalf of all the artists at malletjazz.com)
