EAST SHORE is a musical ensemble based in western Connecticut (USA), which takes the Trinidadian steel pan, and makes it the centerpiece
of a music which melds traditional Caribbean rhythms with a jazz rhythm section,
following a path established by steel pan innovators such as Robert
Greenidge and Len "Boogsie" Sharpe.
East Shore is led by James Walker, who has been playing steel pans for over two decades, and who has worked with such noted steel pan artists as Cliff Alexis and Liam Teague. James is also active as a drummer, percussionist, and educator, having presented clinics at numerous colleges and universities across the eastern United States.
East Shore is available for club and concert work, school workshops, clinics, and to provide background music for private parties, wedding reception cocktail hours, and corporate events. Please contact us for more information, or visit the ”sound files” page on this site to hear the band.
