Needs heavier mallet. Some people complain that YM-5000 does not ring, but when treated right, it projects the sound capable of going head to head with Steinway concert grand piano. Like all other Yamaha instrument, the tuning and sound is consistent.

| It is fairly easy to assemble/disassemble. Frame is not height-adjustable. The tube soldering however is not very good that sometimes you need to resolder.

| It is unfortunate that it has gone out of production. It has grown into YM-4900 and YM-6000.
