The Sound of this marimba is the best in the coservatory, as i am a player only played on musser and yamaha, i feel yamaha is suit for me, the sound are not as sweet as marimbaOne marimba, but it is quite general for all round playing, the sound are consustent throughtot the range of the instrument. Bass area are strong enough and can still able to resonate when using medium hard mallet, and it also sound clear at the top. It respond well of my mallet - encore, and the volume is perfect for a small rectial hall and chamber playing. The instrument is not tuneable, but this had been maintain a good quality for years

| The Frame are quite solid, and it is easy to assemble when there are 2 or more persons to help. The frame is height-adjustable, but these series when adjusting the height it is a disaster, unlike the "A" series that can adjust height by one person only. Bars are rosewood, durable for years. And it design can just fit the door way from the insturment storage/pratice room. It is convenience for home and school use, where no need to re-construct doorway for a marimba.

| Resonators are own design, it looks easy to carry. Unlike the malletech one, they are lighter and not as hugh as that. Bars, frame and other things cannot be customize or tuned as yamaha using a kind of mass manufacture method to produce their marimba, rather than marimbaone customerize every marimba. Size of the bars are not too big or too small, and it looks grand in front of a grand piano. Generally it has a quite reasonable setting

| Yamaha is a safe brand, and with history. And adorsed by Keiko Abe, Dave Samuel, Dave Firemen, Nanae Mimura, and more. Customers trust the quality they provided. But I don't have any information of warranty and bar replacement. In terms of their artist they can have at least 4 marks.

| Generally i am quite happy with this marimba. I will buy a "A" model for personal use, generally i played solo and chamber on this marimba, i would recommend this instrument to student who did not have chance to touch "big-xylophone" before, this will suit them for at lease a year or two.
PS Yamaha does not manufacture YM3900,4100 anymore. The replacement products are 3900A, 4100A with advanced resonator and height adjustment system
