Sound & Tone
Rating: 10
Comments: Beautiful rich tone. All ranges are clear. I am finding that my style of playing is changing because of the clarity in all ranges. I use the extremes more.
And the swivel pedal makes sustaining notes across the ranges easy.
Design & Construction
Rating: 10
Comments: Excellent construction. solid. Love the dual pulleys on the motor. Some real thought went into this instrument.

It is a bit heavy and transport may be a problem, but any inconvenience in carrying it is more than worth for the overall quality of the instrument.

Comments: Basically great. The only change I would make is that the front resonator bars make the full half circle.
Customer Support

Comments: When I went shopping, no one had any instrument in stock. My local dealer arranged for me to go to the Yamaha warehouse in Toronto. I was met by the instrument specialist who set up two instruments for me. I was able to play as much as I wanted and got him to demonstrate so I could hear how the instrument projected.
If I had a large enough vehicle he would have let me take the instrument home.
Great service.

Comments: Love the instrument. Love dealing with Yamaha. I am primarily a jazz drummer-vibist. My approach to teaching drums is to get students to play along, so I use the vibes for all kinds of musical styles, from jazz to rock to latin. The instrument responds beautifully. A change in mallets results in a change in timbre.
This is a great concert or school instrument.
