Sound & Tone
Rating: 10
Comments: Tone is consistant from low to high range. More than satisfied with the tone and intonation. I've used hard medium and soft mallets and tonal quality is supurb. In lower register, voice is gorgeous. Middle register is rich and airy and upper is brisk and light. The istrument is tuned to perfection but it's also hand made and the artist obviously cares about his work.

Comments: The frame is gorgeous. Furniture quality. It is easy to assemble and disassemble. It has a comprehensive design that allows complete sturdyness when assembled. Casters are high quality and removeable for hight difference. The bars are of standard width for a concert marimba and can be replaced with new bar/bars if needed. I chose the padouk wood bars because of cost. They are a very high quality padouk wood. Coe percussion will replace them with rosewood if I so desire. I have had the instrument for 8 months played on every day by two people and it sounds as lovely as the day I first got it.

Comments: Coe percussion has the most gorgeous frames that are made out of a choice of woods. Mine is a natural finished maple frame. I've seen custim made frames that Coe has made that are unique and beautiful. I chose the synthetic resonators because of cost but they are a beautiful addition to the marimba. I can replace them with brass when I am ready.

Comments: There's not a word in the dictionary to describe how great it is to deal with Coe percussion. ALong with my marimba came a CD and booklet describing all the many service warranties including bar replacement, tuning, etc. The service and the quality are the main reason I bought the instrument.

Comments: Yes, Yes, My daughter and I play concert marimba. I would recoment this instrumnet to students, professionals and schools over any other instrument made. I have been looking at marimbas and working with them for 25 years. I have never seen better. Well, a Coe Percussion Concert Marimba all the way is but that comes next.
